Everyone hates getting their photo taken, well most normal people do! Especially corporate photographs!

I’ve been a photographer for many years, and I can tell you that the first thing that people tell me is…I hate getting my photo taken.

Seriously, I know that bud, but I need to take it so let’s do it, I say.

I’ve noticed a few things in my years as a professional photographer and I’m here to share a couple of tips with you that will make your corporate photographs stand out from the rest.

Tip number one – seriously get over yourself.

Harsh yes I know, but caring too much about how your makeup looks, how fat or thin you THINK you are, worrying about the Rosacea on your cheek or your grey hair (ps: these are all my inner fears!) is not going to help you look good in front of the camera.

When you step in front of the camera, the presentation is EVERYTHING!

So, stand up straight, shoulders back, ooze confidence, I promise your photos will show that.

Don’t overdo it, of course, you still want to be yourself, take a deep breath, and think of your happy place.

Not Donald Trump, not Madonna, think Barrack Obama, think Adele!

Tip number two – you cannot be in control.

You simply don’t have the skills to take the photo and be in the photo, you have to have trust in your professional photographer.

S/he will be able to direct you, letting your know the right way to stand in front of the camera to show off your best features or convey a certain message to your audience.

So let go and trust.

Tip number three – not another selfie, stop it!

You can only have so many selfies. While I think they have their place, at times you will need to show your audience your environment, other members of your team or your product and services.

It’s important you include yourself in your organisation environment along with others.

Tip number four – wear what you feel comfortable in!

You don’t need a stylist, you just need to feel comfortable in your own skin.

So that means, nothing to tight or too loose, something you wear normally to work which you feel confident in.

Think going to visit your mother-in-law.

And bring a couple of different outfits to the shoot.

Tip number five – fake it until you make it.

Modern technology has given us a wonderful gift, its called a green screen.

This beautiful piece of cloth enables photographers and videographers alike to add a better-looking background and hence making it look as though you are working from any place, anywhere in the world, anytime day or night.

Your photographer can help you with this.

Of course, outdoors and natural environment options are also great and work well, but it you don’t have an office this is a great option.

So, there are my five little tips for making your corporate photographs a success and helping you get your business or organisation out there.
